Mission Statement
Our mission is to teach children media literacy and effective communication skills through the study and use of the disciplines and techniques of video production.
Goal
Media literacy is defined as the ability to analyze, understand, evaluate and produce media. As children learn the concepts of media literacy, our goal is to empower them with conscientious and critical viewing skills. Another goal is to promote positive, educational, and entertaining children's programming that will teach life lessons, morals and family values.
Objective
Our primary objective is to teach and help the students in our video production workshops produce their own video projects. A key objective is to produce and videotape student-led interviews with a "living legend" at the end of the workshop. These interviews will be featured in the children's educational video program Living Legends Connecting with Today's Youth.
Vision
Our vision is to use the workshop interviews as a vehicle to deliver history to children in a fun and informative way by streaming video of the interviews on our website. Also, we will include online interactive learning games to help children obtain information about today's history makers and current events. We produce the program Living Legends Connecting with Today's Youth to showcase our students work, and provide a medium for them to gain confidence while enhancing their communication skills. In this program an animated character takes two children on an amazing adventure back in time where they become a part of history while they investigate the life of a "living legend" who is interviewed later in the show. This program airs on Comcast Community Television in DeKalb County located in the state of Georgia. In the future, we plan to distribute this program.
